PolyS.........Choices. What to StudY?
Saturday, February 14, 2009
Hi....... How's everybody doing? It's Valentine's day 2day, & LovE is in the AiR. As for me, I will be going for a Single'S overnite at ECP later on.[hope to find my other half soon, not to worrY!] Anyway, I'd be grabbing a free Cornetto ice-cream later on, not going to reveal its location to u... HeHe.

Anyway, as you guys know, the new channeL 8 drama show is trying its best to persuade its viewers to be attracted to engineerinG. But once we made up our mind, it will not change..However, there is something I want to HighlighT about the engineering. Everyone knows that it's often the last resort for students who could not get into the course of their choices. But once u look at their requirements its sort of ironic because:

It requires Maths & normally Physics.

But what happen if ya not good in those subjects, & not Hands ON 'Pratical type' You know what I meanand forced to take up engineering because you have no where else to go? There, my friends lie the cruX of the problem.

As for me, thank goodness I wasn't force to take engineering.[Or nursinG! for the matter.] Cos my parents wanted me to take nursing but the interviewers knew that I couldn't make it. Anyway, I HATE anything to do with sciencE[can't rem the terminalogy] & nursing is filled with BiologY, blooD & nite shift. Or Major Yucks![Esp when I'm such a scaredy cat...muahahha.]

Cos my friend was just joking with me the other day. Imagine if I was in forensic[wkg in th morguE] & suddenly this supposedly deaD person shout my name.....Will prob faint on the spot! Or better still, buy 4-D.

Anyway, now there are so many new courses to choose from, I'm starting to re-work my 'options' & having fun listing it down! Though I hope, one day we could study Psychology& Criminalogy[at the university level. NUS is already having a forensic science major btw..........]

So here's my choice, if there'd no limitations[ infinite possiblities, base on interest, not by limitations]

Starting from Temasek Poly:

1] Dip in Vetertinary Tech

2] Dip in Apparel design& Merchandising[go ahead & laugh.......]

3]Dip in law& Management

4]Dip in Biz. It has lots of grouping, and I'm interested in their
Corporate communication cluster, HRM, & tourism& leisure biz cluster.[Not to confuse with the hospitality dip]
5] Dip in Retail management
6]Dip in communication & media management, with specialization in JOurnalism& publishing/ broadcasting.
7]Dip in Hospitality & Tourism Management
8] Dip in Psychology, with clusters in Psy & early childhood, HRM & Human & social services selectioN.
As for other schools, I'm only interested in their biz options, and toursim diplomas.
One other choice that I might find it 'choose' is Communication. This is because schools like SP offers a diploma in creative writing for TV & new media[it'd be my 1st choice 4 sure!] My 2nd choice will be the dip in media & communiation[ with option of Radio and TV Production Concentration or Radio and TV Production Concentration].
As for Ngee Ann Poly, I would choose its dip in Mass Comm[with a concentration in JOurnalism & publishg/Broadcast media/advertisg &PR].
So if I was to made a choice a 2nd time, I would put Communication as no 1, followed by biz& tourism, & finally psychology.[ UnlesS I'm really interested in the early childhood/others sector]
DisclaimeR: I'm not advertising for Temasek Poly, just using it in general. seriously, other polys like SP, Ngee Ann, RP & Nanyang have similar courses. And whom am I to influence others? Though it seems that I'm more focus on mass comm[its my fav interest aft all]. & Currently I'm doing a degree in Journalism & PR. But definitely, choices at Polys are plenty & exciting, [if u manage to get a good grade]. So all I can say is go for it!! Besides, it doesn't really matter if u take the same course at degree level or switch to another course.[The only advantage one will have of cos, its exemptionS]
So have a good weekend and cya! Off to ECP, Mon to JB!
